David Bryant Obituary

Bath- David V. Bryant, 92, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2019.

     David was born and raised in Mechanic Falls, the son of Guy and Ella (Verrill) Bryant.

     David served in the US Navy during World War II and Korea as a Navy Corpsman.  He graduated from Boston College and Brian Straton Business School and New England Institute of Anatomy and Embalming. After settling down in Hallowell he spent 53 years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer with Knowlton & Hewins Funeral home in August and Hallowell.  He was well known for his support and empathy for families grieving.

     After fully retiring David enjoyed spending his winters in North Port, Florida playing Bocce, going to Stone Crabs baseball games and visiting with friends. 

     David enjoyed getting involved in his community by being active in the Augusta Rotary Club, Lions Club, American Legion, Jaycee’s, and Funeral Director Association. 

     He spent his spare time camping, boating, sailing, fishing, skiing and visiting with family.

     David is survived by his daughter Davee (Bryant) Shorey of Bath; granddaughters Amanda Shorey of Bath and Dawnett (Moreau) Ingrassi of Fallbrook, C.A; sisters Jane (Bryant) Manchester of Mechanic Falls and Sue (Bryant) Walker of Holland, MI and nieces and nephews.

      He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years June (Morey) Bryant of Hallowell; daughter Alana (Bryant) Moreau of Lewiston; son in-law John Shorey of Bath; two brothers and a sister.

     Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Auburn at a later date.
