Bath- Dorothy R. Poulos Liakopoulos, 86, of North Bath Road died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
She was born in Wiscasset on March 28, 1932, a daughter of Lenneous and Ethel (Lewis) Colby.
She attended Wiscasset Schools and was employed at Brown Brothers Restaurant, J. Brush Company in Brunswick and the Forrest Inn in Wiscasset with her husband George. She was also employed for Dr. Largay in Bath for many years and with her brother in law Peter hanging wallpaper and painting.
She enjoyed painting, making crafts, taking care of the horses and was well known for her dried flowers and wreaths made out of sea shells. Dot especially enjoyed time spent at the farm.
She is survived by her husband, George Poulos Liakopoulos of Bath, one daughter, Vicky Lee Varney and her husband William of Turner, three grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah and Rebecca Varney, many nieces and nephews and her loving Coon cat “Hobo” who slept right by her side.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Reginald Carroll Colby, Leroy Colby and Pearl “Buddy” Colby and his wife Margaret whom she was especially close to.
There were no services. Memorial contributions were made to Midcoast Humane, 190 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, 04011 or Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals to MSSPA, P.O. Box 10, South Windham, 04082-0010 or MSSPA.org or a charity of one’s choice. The family thanked the staff at Mid Coast Hospital at 255 South, Carol Toothaker and Deborah Burch. Arrangements were by Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath.
