Lillias Pinson Obituary

 Yarmouth – Lillias J. Pinson, 88, formerly of Day’s Ferry, Woolwich died on Thursday August 16, 2018 at Bay Square Assisted Living.  She was born in Rockport on September 29, 1929, a daughter of John T. and Lavina J. (McDermott) Sullivan.

 

Lillias attended Rockland schools and graduated from Rockport High School with the class of 1947.  She graduated from Gorham Teachers’ College in 1951. Lillias was a beloved teacher and mentor for hundreds of third graders throughout her career at Fisher and Mitchell Schools (Bath), Longfellow School (Brunswick) and Woolwich Central School. She was a member of the Maine Teachers’ Association, the Days Ferry Congregational Church and the United Congregational Church of Bath.

 

A woman of uncommon beauty and grace, she enjoyed dancing and boating with her husband Carl, gardening, antiquing, and caring for the many animals who knew they would find a safe home with her. She cherished the time spent at their cottage on Vinalhaven Island and especially time spent with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will always remember her infectious laugh.

 

She was predeceased by one sister, Barbara E. Sullivan. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carl H. Pinson Jr. of Bath, two daughters, Julianne Dugas and her husband Robert, of Yarmouth and Lisa Waite and her husband Charles of Cape Elizabeth, one brother, Edward Sullivan and his wife Pat of Houlton, one sister Agnes Leach and her husband Lewis of Owls Head, 4 grandchildren Lynsey Waite, Jennifer Waite, Justin Dugas and Tasha Dugas, 5 great grandchildren, Trevor, Alden, Vivi, Bea, and Theo and many nieces and nephews.

 

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. Burial will be at Sea View Cemetery in Rockport at a later date.
