Topsham - Richard “Rick” M. Page, 73, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2019 after a brief illness.
Rick was born in Portland, Maine on May 15, 1946, son of Donald T. and Leah L. (Merrill) Page. He graduated from Morse High School in 1964. During high school, he played on the 1963 state championship basketball team. The team will be inducted into the Maine Basketball Hall of Fame in August. He graduated from Bryant College in Providence, RI in 1968.
On June 28, 1969 Rick married Susan J. Townsend and they resided in Brunswick and later in Topsham.
As a young man, Rick worked with his dad in the family business. In 1970 he built what is now Page Monuments at Cooks Corner in Brunswick, which he owned and operated until retiring in 2011.
He was a long-time member of the Brunswick Golf Club and one of the original members of the of the Fraternal Order of Old Goats, Mid Coast Chapter. On and off the course this group of “old goats” definitely share a special friendship.
Rick was a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks where he could be found playing pinochle and cribbage and also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bath. Other favorite past times include playing pool, wintering in Florida, but above all, spending time with friends and family who will long remember his booming voice, his smile, generosity and the way he made wherever he was a happier place.
He is predeceased by his parents, and his brother Donald M. Page.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan T. Page of Topsham, two daughters, Kristin Page Daigneau and her husband Joe of Virginia Beach and Karen M. Page of Gardiner, one brother, Gregory M. Page and his wife Anne of Bath, 2 grandchildren, Leah D. Daigneau and Troy J. Daigneau along with several cousins.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday June 29, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Brunswick Golf Club. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rick Page Memorial Fund, whose mission is to provide financial assistance to young people interested in the game of golf.
