Melbourne, FL – Brenda May Mitchell, 84, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Brenda was born in West Bath, Maine, on June 30, 1941, the daughter of Otis and Avis (Wardwell) Brown. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1959. Brenda dedicated over thirty years of her career to Sears in Brunswick, where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm, friendly presence. During her years in Maine, she also attended Kellogg Church in Harpswell.
In 1995, Brenda met her longtime partner, Stephen Kirkpatrick. They later moved to Florida together, where they built a life filled with companionship and shared experiences.
Brenda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved going on cruises, shopping, gardening and most importantly, spending time with her family. Christmas held a special place in her heart, and she cherished celebrating the holiday surrounded by those she loved.
Brenda will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, devoted companion, and dear friend.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Kent Brown.
Brenda is survived by her two daughters, Leanne Murphy of Woolwich and Roxanne Severt of Bath; her four sisters, Sue Morreau and her longtime companion Dwight Helstrom of Caribou, Nancy Brown of Freeport, Sally Conrad of Harpswell, and Sherry White of Texas; and her three brothers, Keith Brown and his significant other Georgette Miller of Harpswell, Wayne Brown and his wife Mary Brown of Melbourne, and Kevin Brown of Wiscasset. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Benjamin Severt, Matthew Murphy, Ryan Murphy, and Dylan Severt, all of Bath; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 17 at the American Legion Hall in Bath from 2pm to 6pm. Condolences may be made online at WWW.DaigleFuneralHome.com.
