Cindy McIntosh Obituary

Bath – Cindy L. Higgins-McIntosh passed away on April 22, 2026.

Born in Bath, Maine, on July 2, 1953, she was the daughter of Harry Higgins and Pearl (Staples) Higgins. She graduated from Morse High School in 1971 and remained deeply connected to the Bath community throughout her life.

Cindy began her working years in local restaurants before following her passion for helping others by attending cosmetology school, going on to work as a beloved local hairdresser for many years. Her caring nature led her to the Bath Children’s Home while she pursued a degree in social sciences at UMA. She later dedicated many years as a caseworker and intensive case manager for the Department of Health and Human Services, where she made a lasting difference in the lives of those she served, retiring in 2019.

In 2002, she was honored at the Blaine House with the Community-Based Client Services Award, a reflection of her compassion and commitment to others.

Cindy was a member of the Maine Association of Retirees, AARP, Maine Public Broadcasting, the World Wildlife Federation, the National Humane Society. A supporter of the Lakota Tribe and many other organizations.

Cindy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—time spent by the water, getting lost in a good book, writing, and, most of all, being with the people she loved. Her family, friends, and especially her granddaughter who was the center of her world.

She was predeceased by her father, Harry Higgins Sr.; her mother, Pearl Higgins; and her brothers, George Lawrence, Lister “Ryan” Lawrence, and Harry Higgins Jr.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her son, Jason McIntosh, and his wife, Lucy, of Bath, and their daughter, Victoria. Her stepmother, Lorraine Higgins of Bath; her sisters, Anita Varney and her husband, Michael, of Norridgewock, and Lisa Barrett and her husband, Denny, of Bath; along with several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on May 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath, Maine 04530. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Jason’s home. This will be a potluck; please bring your favorite dish if you wish to share.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coastal Humane Society. Condolences may be shared online at www.DaigleFuneralHome.com.
