Craig Cunningham Obituary

 

Brunswick- Craig Calderwood Cunningham passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the age of 93.

     Craig was born in Camden on August 29, 1929, the son of Walter and Hester (Calderwood) Cunningham.

     He attended Camden schools. Craig married the love of his life, Bea (Ingraham) in December 1947. Craig and Bea spent many happy years on Norton’s Pond in Lincolnville, Maine. He worked at JR Cianchette & Sons, which included working on Loring Air Force base, prior to moving to New York where they lived for many years. He worked for Jim Shepler and Del Higgins before relocating back to Cundy’s Harbor, Maine in 1984 and working for Harry Crooker and then the City of Bath where he retired from.  

     Craig had a passion for airplanes and flew for many years as a hobby. He had many wonderful stories about his adventures that he loved to share. He and Bea were members of the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) Ground Observer Corps program which he was very proud of. He enjoyed his retirement traveling, entertaining visitors, and visiting with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Bea had a fabulous trip to Scotland which was special to them as their ancestors were from there.

   Surviving are daughter, Carolan Lee Rasmussen, son, Craig and Patti Cunningham; grandchildren, Craig (Skipper) and Michelle Cunningham, Tammy Harley, Amanda, Jeff and Chantelle Best, Amie Cunningham and Jennifer Coombs, Shawna French Arshi, Rush and Danielle French, Benaiah and Ann French, Adam and Anne Brereton French, Erin, Joel, and Janelle Rasmussen; great-grandchildren Nathan Harley, Cassie, James and Hannah Cunningham, Sierra, Colby, Vivian, Oliver and Hendrix Best, Gabriella, Zacharia, twins Avigail & Daniella, Michael and Rafael Arshi, Rhea and Bryan French, Liana and Sophia Garry, Maisy, Ethan and Emily, Garrison and Lily French, Oliver and Imogene French, Marlon and Isaac Rasmussen; and great great grandchildren, Jaxon Cunningham and Benaiah French. Craig is also survived by his niece Vicki and Armand Lesmerises, and several cousins, grandnieces, and nephews.

    He was predeceased by his loving wife, Bea, his brother, Glenwood Cunningham, his sister, Mary Jane Carter, sister in laws, Dorothy Mills and Mona Ingraham, his son-in-law, Jeffrey Rasmussen, and nephew, Josh Mills.

      The family extends special thanks to the wonderful staff at Horizon’s Living and Rehab Center in Brunswick as well as CHANS Hospice.
