Dana Hagerthy Obituary

Bath – Dana Trafton Hagerthy, 91, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 in Englewood, FL.  He was born on October 30, 1933 in Ashland, Maine, the oldest son of Albert L. and Myrtle “Sally” (Miller) Hagerthy.

     He graduated Morse High School in Bath in the Class of 1952.  He attended the University of Maine in Orono.  On May 8, 1953 he married Barbara L. Parks.  Dana owned and operated Hagerthy’s General Store in the Village of West Point for 17 years.  In 1964 he was elected Clerk of Superior Courts for Sagadahoc County.  Served as Chief Clerk of Courts and as a regional court administrator for District Courts of Maine.

     Dana was president of the Phippsburg Sportsman Association when the club house was built, he was Past President of the Maine Clerk of Courts Assoc. Inc.  He was a life member of the Bath Lodge of Elks, Solar Star Lodge of Masons and the Kora Shriners.

     Dana truly enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He retired in Englewood, FL and enjoyed collecting shark teeth and sea shells that decorated his award winning lawn.  He loved swimming in the warm mineral springs in Northport.  He was a kind and generous father.  He finally got his prayer to go to Heaven with his dear wife Barbara.

     He was predeceased by his dear wife, Barbara Hagerthy and his brother, Neal R. Hagerthy.

    He is survived by four daughters, Pamela Hagerthy, Tamara Bryan, Cama Hagerthy and Barbara Holbrook, one son, Dana T. Hagerthy II, one sister, Sue Musk, 6 grandchildren, Ocean Dreves, Hope Logan, Brent Holbrook, Liz Holbrook, Connor Hagerthy and Magen Hagerthy, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

     Visiting hours will be from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath with a Masonic Service at 2:30 PM.  A funeral service will be at 1 PM on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath.  Condolences may be made online at www.DaigleFuneralHome.com.
