Donald Trafton Obituary

Melbourne Village, FL -  Donald R. Trafton, formerly of Portland and Arlington, VA passed away on March 13, 2026.

     He was born in Medford, MA on November 2, 1931, a son of Rudolf H. and Edith (Workman) Trafton.  He moved to Portland, Maine at a young age and graduated from Deering High School in Portland.   He graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a bachelors of Arts and Economics.  He entered  the United States Army and in 1962 was employed in Washington, DC for the Department of Commerce until retirement.  He remained treasurer of the Federal Credit Union for fifty years retiring in 2023. 

     He was a Boy Scout and active in DeMolay and Jay Cees. 

     Don enjoyed sailing with his sail boat.

     He is survived by two daughters, Laurel LeBlanc and her husband Michael of Melbourne Village, FL and Lisa Ward and her husband Ralph of Virginia, one son, Martin Trafton and his wife Lynette of Nevada, one step daughter, Diane Trafton of Virginia, one brother, David Trafton of Portland, one sister, Cynthia Adams of Portland, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

     Visiting hours will be from 3 to 5 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath, Maine.  A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the Georgetown Historical Society.  Burial will follow at Oak Cemetery in Georgetown with Military Honors.  A gathering of family and friends will be at the Georgetown Historical Society.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.  Condolences may be made online at www.DaigleFuneralHome.com
