Bath - Janie A. Crowley, 64, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Dionne Commons in Brunswick.
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 1, 1961, daughter of Jerry Allen and Peggy Jane (Adams) Salmon. She grew up in Holliston, MA and graduated from Harwich High School.
In 1987 she moved to Bath where she made many lifelong friendships and became a Mainah. She was a homemaker. Later she worked at the Galley Restaurant, the Plant Home and most recently, at Elmhurst.
Janie loved music. She could name every classic rock song that came on the radio. This was a love she passed to her children and would quiz them on the greats. Small Point beach was her favorite place, bringing her kids and grandkids there on countless summer days. Above all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Car rides with her son, Yahtzee with her girls, puzzles, Scrabble, gin rummy tournaments, and so many laughs.
Janie wasn’t just mom to her own kids; she was mom to all kids. Mom Mumma Mambo Ma and Nana she answered to them all with a smile.
Janie was an autism mom, and damn proud of it. With all the up down and sideways days, it made her who she was and it made us who we are. She will be missed by many and loved forever. Gone far too soon because “Only the good die young”
She was predeceased by her parents and her companion, Chris Gingrow.
She is survived by one son, Silas C. Gingrow of Brunswick, three daughters, Jessie M. Johansen and her husband Justin of Woolwich, Kelsey J. Newton and her husband David of Dresden, Mycah R. Crowley and her husband Matthew Rice of Phippsburg, four brothers, Ted Salmon of TN, Stephen Salmon of MA, Patrick Salmon and his wife Robin of MA, Jerry Salmon and his wife Debbie of MA, three sisters, Kathleen Horigan and her husband Peter of MA, Elizabeth Walsh and her husband Mark of MA, Nancy Kuse and her husband Bob of VA, 7 grandchildren, Hayli Toothaker, Jaxon Crowley, Sidnee Rice, Greyson Dunn, Peggy Dunn, Naomi Newton and Patrick Newton, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
If you want to honor her, play some classic rock loud, take a kid to the beach, or gather around a table for a game night filled with laughter. That’s exactly how she would’ve wanted it.
