West Bath -  Michael T. Drake, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at his residence.

   Michael was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 8, 1974, the son of Cary and Nila Gay (Warner) Drake.  In 1992 he graduated from Morse High School in Bath.  Michael began lobster fishing at the age of 13, continuing until retiring from that in 2023.  At the age of 15, he was a junior firefighter with West Bath Fire Department.  On March 3, 1992 he became a member of the WBFD.  He was also a member of the Bath call force and on April 16, 1993 he rescued an 18 month old baby from a structure fire in Bath.  In 1996 he was employed at Bath Fire Department for over 25 years as a firefighter/paramedic, retiring in October of 2021.  Michael was employed with the Town of Harpswell as a per diem firefighter, then as a town firefighter.  In 2023 he started his role as a fire administrator, EMA director and Fire Warden. 

     Michael was a member of the IAFF, IAFF local 16 and the PFFMaine.

     Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. 

He was predeceased by his grandparents, J. Edward Jr. and Carolyn P. Drake, Harry Jr. “Stubby” and Nola B. Warner.

     He is survived by his parents, Cary and Nila Gay Drake of West Bath, his sister, Michelle Crichton and her husband David and children, Benjamin, MacKenzie and Nicholas, all of Bangor, aunts & uncles, Richard and Sharon Wagner of Orono, Dickson and Martha Drake of Amhurst, NH, Ned and Carlene Drake of South Carolina and many cousins. 

     A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath.  Following will be fireman honors at the West Bath Fire Department with a gathering of family and friends.  Memorial contributions may be made to the West Bath Fire and Rescue, 219 Foster’s Point Road, West Bath, 04530.  Condolences may be made online at www.DaigleFuneralHome.com
