Stanley Lane Obituary

Arrowsic - Stanley Lane, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on February 5, 1942, in Flushing, Queens, New York, to Janet and Jesse Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Michael.


Stan graduated from Ohio State University, where he swam butterfly on the varsity swim team, and received his masters degree from SUNY Buffalo. Following his education, he built a successful career in property and casualty insurance.


In addition to his devotion to family, Stan was an avid volunteer. He spent many years as a first responder with the Putnam Valley Fire Department in New York and later served with the Westport Island and Arrowsic Fire Departments in Maine. He was also a dedicated member of Lincoln County Search and Rescue, where he volunteered alongside his beloved dog, Gracie.


Stan will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering willingness to help others. Through his illness, Stan never lost his sense of humor.  He touched countless lives through his service, friendship, and the love and support he generously shared with family and friends.


Stan shared his life with his beloved wife, Norma Dreyfus.  Together they built a family that was the center of his world.


He is survived by Norma; his children, Jenna Fox and her husband, David; Alyson Strode and her husband, Tyler; Bethany Dreyfus; and Marc Dreyfus and his wife, Annika Sarin; his cherished grandchildren, Jared Curry, Alexandra Curry, Eloise Strode, Isabelle Dreyfus, Maya Sarin-Dreyfus, Nina Sarin-Dreyfus and Emma Fox; his brother, George Lane; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.


The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, friends, and loved ones who provided comfort, support, and compassion during Stanley's final days. His legacy will live on through the family he loved so deeply and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.


A funeral service and celebration of Stan's life will be held on Thursday, June 4, 10:00 am, at Beth Israel Congregation, 862 Washington Street, Bath, Maine.
