West Bath - Thomas Andrew Guth, 57, passed away on September 29, 2025 at his home.
Tom was the second of three children born on October 24, 1967, in Meridian Mississippi to Frederick W. Guth Jr. and Ruth (Masemore) Guth.
In 1978, Tom’s family set their roots in Bath. Tom attended Bath schools and quickly made friends with the neighborhood kids as they marveled at his unicycle riding abilities.
Tom attended Morse High School and was a proud graduate of the class of 1986. While in school, Tom played football for the Shipbuilders and excelled in drafting classes paving the way to a 38-year career with Bath Iron Works.
During Tom’s many years of employment at BIW, he held many positions and titles, some of which allowed Tom the opportunity to travel. He enjoyed many work trips that took him to other Naval shipyards in San Diego, Hawaii, and Japan just to name a few. Tom was particularly fond of sea trials, testing the newest additions to the Navy’s fleet of ships. Tom made many friends within BIW that he often spoke of fondly.
During his long tenure at Bath Iron Works Tom found time to raise a family. Tom was serious and determined (or stubborn if you ask his kids) and he was adamant about instilling a sense of pride and work ethic in all three of his children as exemplified by his longevity at BIW. Tom also shared his love of skiing and fishing with Courtney, Cameron, and Connor. Some of the best memories were made skiing down the slopes at Sugarloaf Mountain from a very young age and midnight kayak fishing trips at the “Super Secret Spot”. As the kids spread their wings and moved out one by one, Tom enjoyed riding his motorcycle and cruising in his Beamer.
“Fly on your way, like an eagle. Fly as high as the sun.” -Iron Maiden- May you rest in peace.
He is survived by his children, Courtney Mixon & husband Chris, Cameron Guth & significant other Iyanla, and Connor Guth significant other Rachel, his mother, Ruth Guth, siblings, John Guth and wife Kathy, and Elizabeth Conley, 5 grandchildren, Chloe Simmons, Olivia Mixon, Christopher Mixon III, Moxie Mixon, and Callan Guth, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins,
Tom was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his father Frederick Guth Jr.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Meadowbrook Campground in Phippsburg where stories will be shared and please bring a dish.
